Antony's plea
By Our Special Correspondent
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM,
AUG. 12.
The Chief Minister, A.K. Antony, on Thursday urged the Union Minister for Commerce, Kamal Nath, to withdraw the Central Government's decision to allow multi-port entry for rubber.
Unrestricted imports would lead to a steep drop in rubber prices and hit the farmers. It would only benefit the industrialists. The Centre should not be a party to a decision that would cause hardships to the farmers of the State and ruin its economy, he added.
