BELLARY, AUG. 12. The meeting of the District Implementation Committee for Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, held here on Wednesday, came to an abrupt end as the Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) did not furnish proper records. M.P. Prakash, Minister for Revenue, chaired the meeting. The members said that the information provided by the DDPI was incomplete and that it was difficult for them to participate in the discussion without full information. Mr. Prakash, who browsed the statement of accounts, expressed his surprise and said they were confusing. Members, including K.C. Kondaiah, MLC, took exception to the failure of the DDPI to give details of the funds received and released, and expenditure of the department. Mr. Prakash, summing up the discussion, held that the chief executive officer had failed to review the implementation of the programme in the district since last year. He instructed the DDPI to submit all the information to the president of the zilla panchayat. He also asked the CEO, and the chief planning officer to verify the details within 20 days. The legislators Bhagirathi Marulasiddanagowda, N. Suryanarayan Reddy, and Somalingappa; the chairman of the Standing Committee on Health and Education, Manaiah; the Deputy Commissioner, S.N. Jayaram; and the zilla panchayat members Venkatarao Ghorpade and Gonal Virupakshagowda, were present.
