BELGAUM, AUG.12. A National Oral Health Programme aimed at imparting dental education to school children in the district was launched by K.L.E. Society's Institute of Dental Sciences in co-ordination with the Indian Dental Association and Colgate Palmolive India Limited here on Thursday. Themed as "Bright Smiles Bright Future," the programme will cover 50,000 urban and rural children aged between six and 12 years in the district. This apart, 200 school teachers and 5,000 parents would be trained in dental education. To create more awareness, a `Beautiful Smile' photo contest will be organised for school students at the district and State-level. Children will be given free Dental Health Kits consisting of dental literature, a toothpaste and toothbrush. Every school will be provided with dental educative charts. Speaking on the occasion, KLES Chairman, Prabhakar Kore, MLC, announced free dental treatment to the children below 12 years at KLESIDS for two months. The Chairman, Governing Body, KLESIDS, V.S. Sadhunnavar, unveiled the Dental Health Kit and hoped that the programme would be implemented with a missionary zeal. The principal of the institute, S.V.Bhagwat, released `Orthodontics Awareness Brochure.'Jacob Carvalho, Principal of St. Paul's High School released Dental Educative charts, according to a release.
