Green power projects in West Bengal

KOLKATA: Two Birla companies — Hindustan Motors and Texmaco — along with three companies based in the South today picked up their allotment letters to set up green power projects in West Bengal.

The letters were given away by the State Power Minister, Mrinal Banerjee, to mark the West Bengal Government's public-private initiative in the field of renewable energy. Altogether 23 companies have been shortlisted for setting up units with a total capacity of 100 MW by 2007, with subsequent reduction in greenhouse gas emission.
