40 children ill after taking anti-malarial drug

By Sushanta Talukdar

GUWAHATI, AUG 12. Forty school children were taken ill in a remote village in Assam's Sivasagar district today after they were administered anti-malarial drugs by health workers.

All the students, in the age group of four to nine years, started vomiting and complained of headache and dizziness after being administered oral doses of the anti-malarial drug. Of the 40 children who complained of ``uneasiness', three had to be admitted in the local public health centre, but were later allowed to go home after they recovered.
