CHENNAI, AUG. 12. A team of experts from the Artificial Limb Centre here will visit the Coimbatore Central Prison to ascertain whether Abdul Nasser Maudhany, leader of the Kerala-based People's Democratic Party, could be given all treatment, including replacement of his artificial limb there itself. A direction to this effect was given by the First Bench comprising the Chief Justice B. Subhashan Reddy and Justice S. Ashok Kumar on a State Government appeal against a single judge order asking the Government to treat the key accused in the Coimbatore serial bomb blasts case at the Artificial Limb Centre (Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine) at K.K. Nagar here. Posting the matter to August 17, the Judges said the team should submit a report on the effective steps, which could be taken for attending to the medical problems, including fixing of an artificial limb of Mr. Maudhany. "The emphasis is on the availability of medical facilities at the Coimbatore prison and the doctors who examine Mr. Maudhany have to state specifically as to whether without moving him out of the central prison the artificial limb can be fixed and other medical problems treated," the Bench said.
