State Bank offers `School Plus' scheme

CHENNAI, AUG. 12. The State Bank of India has announced a scheme, `School Plus', for extending financial assistance to schools for repairs to or renovation or construction of building with a longer repayment period at cheaper interest rates. The Government, recently, ordered that thatched roof in schools be replaced with pucca structure.

The minimum loan amount is Rs. 50,000 and the maximum is Rs.25 lakhs. Projects exceeding Rs. 25 lakhs will be considered selectively, says a press release.
