THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, AUG. 12. The conferences of the State CPI(M), being held in preparation for the 18th Party Congress, would begin in the last week of September and culminate in the party State conference in Malappuram from February 19 to 22.
Branch conferences
A CPI(M) State committee release said here today that the branch conferences would begin in the last week of September. The local conferences would be held from October 20 to November 15, area conferences from November 16 to December 15 and district conferences from December 15 to January 20. The conference schedule was finalised by the CPI(M) State committee on the second day of its three-day meeting here today.
The party Polit Bureau is preparing a set of guidelines to ensure that the party conferences do not become forums for a replay of the faction feud that rocked the party in the mid-Nineties.
Narendran Commission
The committee today took up a note on the Narendran Commission report on reservation of Government jobs for backward communities and is likely to finalise the party stand on the issue tomorrow.
