Dividend cheque presented

NEW DELHI AUG. 12. Utility Powertech Ltd., a joint venture company of the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and Reliance Energy Ltd., has declared a dividend of 100 per cent for the financial year 2003-04. The company earned a profit after tax of Rs.3.45 crores on a turnover of Rs.85.62 crores. The dividend cheque was presented to the NTPC Chairman and Managing Director, C.P. Jain, here today by K.K. Sinha, former Chairman of Utility Powertech Ltd., in the presence of senior officials of both companies.

The joint venture has been formed to take up assignments of construction, erection and supervision in the power sector and other sectors in India and abroad.

Quiz contest held

NEW DELHI AUG. 12. A large number of schools participated in the Fr. Thomas Memorial Quiz held at Don Bosco School in Alaknanda here recently.

According to a Don Bosco School press release, about 34 schools from different parts of the Capital participated in the quiz. The quiz began with a written round where 25 questions were to be answered in 20 minutes. The second round was an oral one where the students were asked questions by the quizmaster, Errol Gonzalves. The third was a musical round. Prizes were given away by the school Principal, Dr. Binny Isaac.

School jubilee celebrations

NEW DELHI AUG. 12. Fr. Agnel School launched its jubilee celebrations with an impressive student exchange programme for 10 schools from all over the country in the Capital earlier this week. Students from Goa, Maharashtra, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi -- numbering about 100 -- would spend five days working together exchanging ideas and building bridges of understanding among themselves.

Interviews for Australia

NEW DELHI AUG. 12. For Indian students interested in higher studies abroad, IDP Education Australia -- one of the leading international education and development services -- will be holding interview sessions at Hotel Park Royal here on August 14. The interviews would be held between 10-30 a.m. and 6 p.m. and students are required to pre-register with IDP prior to their interviews by calling up at 26213504, 26213667 and 26467535. The interview panel will have a large contingent of 75 representatives from 33 Australian universities and institutions. The participating institutions would be offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various fields like marketing, business, computers and software technology, travel, tourism and fine art. A special feature of the interviews would be on-the-spot admissions to eligible students.

Exhibition inaugurated

NEW DELHI AUG. 12. The "Zak Glasstech International 2004" exhibition showcasing the latest global trends, product innovations and new technologies in glass, glazing and cladding technologies, was inaugurated today at Pragati Maidan by the international supermodel, Alyona.

Also present at the inaugural ceremony were the Managing Director of Saint-Gobain Glass India Limited, B. Santhanan, and the Managing Director of Glaverbel Asia Pacific, Michael Zhang.

Popular Indian brands and dealers from the US, the US, Australia, France, Germany, Switzerland, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan and China are participating in the exhibition.
