NEW DELHI, AUG. 12. The Vice-Chairman of Delhi Development Authority, Madhukar Gupta, today said that the agency, which was in the process of constructing about 24,000 houses, was contemplating involving the private sector in the construction activity to step up the pace. The official said that while DDA has been constructing flats on its own and has also involved private participation through cooperative group housing societies, now "other options are being explored''. Stating that there was a huge backlog which needed to be cleared, Mr Gupta said while about 25,000 allotments of plots were pending in Rohini, there were about 20,000 pending flat registrants also whose demands were to be met. For the Rohini allotments, he said, additional land was being acquired by the Land and Building Department of the Delhi Government and by the end of 2005-2006 DDA proposed to acquire, develop and allot this land.
