Mukhi ridicules Lovely's move

NEW DELHI, AUG 12. Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Jagdish Mukhi today said Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely's asking permission of the Centre for opening more degree colleges in the Capital was ``ridiculous'' as the Delhi government was also empowered to do so.

Education being the state subject, the Sheila Dikshit government can go ahead with opening degree colleges after taking up the matter with the Delhi University, he said in a statement here.

Prof Mukhi also sought to `correct' Mr lovely's `notion' that during the last ten years no new college has been opened in Delhi.
