CHANDIGARH, AUG. 12. A Haryana Government spokesman today ridiculed the allegations levelled by the Congress MLA, Karan Singh Dalal, that there had been bungling in purchase of power. The spokesman said it appeared that Mr. Dalal neither had any knowledge of the Electricity Act nor was he aware that Haryana was the first State to take a Cabinet decision to constitute a Power Trading Corporation and register it with the Registrar of Companies. Also, its Memorandum of Understanding was in the advanced stage of signing. The Electricity Act-2003 had a provision to set up such a corporation. However, a year's extension had been given by the Government of India. As regards the allegation that Adani Exports, Global Energy and PTC were the benami firms of the family members of the Chief Minister, he made it clear that the PTC was nothing but the Power Trading Corporation promoted and legally owned by the Power Sector Undertakings of the Central Government and its IPO was issued recently and over-subscribed. The other two were reputed companies in the power sector. He said Mr. Dalal was dragging the name of the Chief Minister's family to raise unnecessary controversies simply to remain in news. Regarding the allegation of purchasing power from the Reliance Energy Trading Private Limited, the spokesman said that Mr. Dalal should know that the offer made by the company did not bear any authentication or signatures.
