By Our Staff Correspondent

MANGALORE, AUG. 12. The Mangalore North (Bunder) police on Thursday arrested three persons, including two locals and a person from Kerala, for attempting to sell an antique idol to a local buyer from the old bus station at Hampankatte here.

The antique piece is said to be an idol resembling Lord Rama, though it is yet to be confirmed through investigations and other tests.

The Mangalore North Police Inspector, C.T. Jayakumar told The Hindu that the accused, Abdul Latif (34) of Amunje in Bantwal taluk, C.A. Latif (54) of Bunder area here and Reji (30) of Thiruvananthapuram had allegedly sourced the idol from their "friend."
