VISAKHAPATNAM, AUG. 12. The district unit of the Communist Party of India has decided to organise an agitational programme on August 26 to press for the execution of the Polavarama project and construction of its left canal. Informing this at the CPI district committee meeting on Wednesday, the party Secretary, J.V. Satyanarayana Murthy, said that the announcement of the State Government that it would allocate Rs.1,300 crores to the Polavaram right canal gave room for suspicion. He demanded that the construction of the left canal of Polavaram project as well as the project itself be launched at the earliest. Massive dharnas would be staged in the first phase on August 26 at Nakkapalli, Narsipatnam, Anakapalle, Gajuwaka and Visakhapatnam city, he said.
