VISAKHAPATNAM, AUG. 12. In a bid to identify children below 12 years with heart diseases, a mega medical camp will be conducted by the King George Hospital here at Andhra Medical College Old Students Auditorium (AMCOSA) on Saturday. About 40 specialists from the KGH will attend the camp and conduct various examinations. Specialists will also be deputed to similar camps being conducted at Vizianagaram and Srikakulam on August 22. Parents of children suffering from various heart ailments have been asked to bring the medical reports, if any, to the camp. In case of emergency cases, treatment as well as surgery would be conducted at the KGH.
Registration
The KGH Superintendent, G. Saigopal, told reporters on Thursday that the camp would be held at AMCOSA building from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. ``As per the Government's instructions, patients will be identified at the camp for follow-up treatment. Such a database will be useful in rendering timely help,'' he said. Parents should bring their children even on suspicion of having cardiac diseases, Dr. Saigopal said. Registration of children was not restricted to families below the poverty line, he said, adding that on an average, 5-10 children with complaints of heart problems were being treated at the KGH every month. The Government announced holding of medical camps all over the State following the admission of children with heart diseases at various hospitals in Hyderabad.
