Guntur
By Our Staff Reporter
GUNTUR, AUG. 12. The Guntur Municipal Corporation, at its general council meeting today, decided to review promotions of teachers recently given effect to, following several complaints lodged by corporators. The Mayor, Chukka Yesuratnam, accepted that there was irregularity in the actions of the Deputy Commissioner in this regard, which would be inquired into. The corporators alleged that irregularities were witnessed in the promotions of teachers as the merit-cum-roster system was not followed, which resulted in injustice to 15 SC, ST and BC candidates and undue benefit to teachers of the other castes. All this they alleged was done through giving wrong information to a court of law, which the council decided to review and if necessary cancel the promotions and provide correct information to the court.
