Bank staff take part in dharna

BANGALORE, AUG. 12. The United Forum of Bank Unions, representing public sector bank employees, said on Thursday bank employees and officers staged dharnas in front of their administrative offices, seeking a "better offer" from the Indian Banks' Association on increased pay.

The association's last offer was eight per cent, which was "far less than the demand" of the unions, the forum said in a release. In Bangalore, 150 employees participated in the dharna in front of the State Bank of India, the release said.
