BANGALORE, AUG. 12. Two men, claiming to be gold ornament polishers, cheated a housewife into parting with her four gold bangles worth Rs. 40,000 in the Ulsoor Gate Police Station limits on Wednesday, the police said. The police said that at about 5.30 p.m. the two men came to the house of Shiva Prasad in Cubbonpet and introduced themselves to his wife, Hema, as gold ornament polishers. They polished Hema's gold chain and impressed her. Hema, who was alone at the house, gave them four bangles for polishing. The two men polished the bangles and returned them to her. After they left, Hema realised that they had made away with her gold bangles after giving her brass bangles, the police said. On a complaint by Hema's brother-in-law, Krishna Murthy, the Ulsoor Gate Police have registered a case.
Foiled
An alert watchman prevented two men from taking away the logs of two sandalwood trees they had felled on the Gandhi Krishi Vignyan Kendra (GKVK) premises on Wednesday night. The police said the watchman, Devaraj, who saw the two men cutting sandalwood trees, raised an alarm forcing them to flee.
