Modi seeks aid of Rs. 3,500 cr.

NEW DELHI,
AUG. 13.
The Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi, today called on the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, and sought a financial assistance of Rs. 3,500 crore to the State to tackle the flood situation that has caused destruction in south and central Gujarat.
He apprised the Prime Minister of flood relief measures taken by the State Government. He said 1.1 lakh people had been evacuated so far.
As many as 73 State highways and 339 other roads were affected by floods.
Mr. Modi also met the Union Home Minister, Shivraj Patil, and the Agriculture Minister, Sharad Pawar, and apprised them of the flood situation.
