JAGAT KHANA (KULLU) AUG. 13. Two persons were missing and six injured in a cloudburst and flash floods here early this morning. A majority of the people were awake at that time otherwise there could have been higher casualties, said eyewitnesses.

Heavy rains were reported here after midnight and the floodwaters came into the Branda nullah in the morning, said the villagers of Jagat Khana village of Kullu district.

A highly backward area, Jagat Khana under Nirmand Tehsil is just across Rampur and is prone to flash floods. There was a loss of about Rs. 30 lakhs, according to the SDM Ani. The property destroyed in the floods included a cable network company, temporary hutments and ration stores in which the people of Jagat Khana and Rampur had stored rations in big quantities in the wake of repeated warnings of flash floods in the Sutlej.
