Appoint panel on land: CPI(M)

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD, AUG. 13. The State Committee of the CPI (M) has demanded immediate appointment of a high-level official committee on land problems and withdrawal of all the `vengeful actions' initiated against Andhra University's teaching and non-teaching staff by the Vice-Chancellor.

Listing some of the problems the party could not highlight in the memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, on May 28, the CPI (M) leaders wanted the Government to concede the demands of Anganwadi workers and take a re-look at the Government Order on payment of compensation for the land acquired for Special Economic Zone.

The other demands were regularisation of over 10,000 labourers working on contract basis in the Medical and Health Department and a wage hike for home guards. The leaders who made these demands were B.V. Raghavulu, secretary of the State Committee of CPI (M), Koratala Satyanarayana, Polit Bureau Member, T. Veerabhadram and Y.V. Rao, State Secretariat members.
