HYDERABAD, AUG. 13. Unfazed by the Home Minister, K. Jana Reddy's virtual rejection of their demand, the People's War emissaries today appealed to the Governor, Surjit Singh Barnala, to order remission of the jail sentence of P. B. Ganesh, accused in the murder of former MP, Magunta Subbarami Reddy.
Order cited
P. Vara Vara Rao and G. Kalyan Rao submitted a memorandum to the Governor pointing out that State Government had issued an order stating that life convicts who had completed seven years of total punishment period and remained in jail were eligible for release. However, there were some exceptions.
Eligible for release
According to the Government's guidelines issued ahead of the Independence Day, Ganesh, a life convict, was eligible for release. The only hindrance was that he fell short of two months' special remission to complete ten years in jail. They quoted the appeal by the PW's State Secretary, Ramakrishna, that Ganesh's release would help create a conducive atmosphere for the upcoming talks with the Government.
