MADURAI, AUG. 14. The Union Finance Minister, P. Chidambaram, has congratulated the State Bank of India for its "outstanding performance" of sanctioning Rs. 75.61 lakhs as education loans through its Karaikudi branch. In a statement, Mr. Chidambaram said the branch received 60 applications for education loans from students undergoing various courses in a special drive on July 4. All applicants were sanctioned loans to the tune of Rs 75,61,600.
