PONDICHERRY, AUG.14. The Lt Governor, M.M. Lakhera and the Chief Minister, N.Rangasamy, today planted saplings on the East Coast Road near Rajiv Gandhi square on Pondicherry-Tindivanam route here marking the conclusion of the six-day-long programme of implementing `clean and green Pondicherry` scheme of the Public Works and Local Administration Departments as part of celebration of the golden jubilee of Freedom of Pondicherry. The Superintending Engineer, the PWD, C. Anandane, told newsmen that the workers attached to the Bridges and Roads Division of the Department were deployed to ensure that important thoroughfares were made neat and clean.
