COIMBATORE, AUG. 14. Indian Army (Delhi) continued its winning streak, scoring a 69-58 win over defending champion Integral Coach Factory (ICF, Chennai) in the opening semifinal league of the 40th All-India basketball tournament for the PSG Trophy at the PSG Tech courts here on Saturday.
Late Friday night, ICF defeated Indian juniors (Delhi) 85-67. In the 30th State-level tournament for schoolboys, American College (Madurai) and St. Michael's HSS (Coimbatore) scored fighting wins over their opponents in the semifinal league.
State-level: Quarterfinals: Gokulanantha Hindu Mahajan HSS (Salem) 70 (S. Mohammed Azarudeen 19) bt Perks Matric HSS (Coimbatore), 39 (Guruprasanth 14). St. Michael's HSS 58 (R. Satheesh 19) bt CSI HSS (Coimbatore) 24 (M.N. Sanjay 10). SRMVS `A' 53 (T. Lingeshwaran 23) bt Caldwell HSS, Tuticorin 39 (P. Rajesh 11). American College HSS (Madurai) 72 (Sathis Kumar 26) bt Mani HSS (Coimbatore) 48 (Manoj Kumar 18).
Semifinal league: St. Michael's HSS (Coimbatore) 63 (P. Akilan 27) bt Gokulanantha HSS (Salem) 60 (R. Anbukumar 19). American College (Madurai) 50 (Sathis Kumar 26) bt SRMVS `A' (Coimbatore) 46 (T. Lingeshwaran 17).
