Myskina goes missing

SOPOT, AUG. 14. French Open champion Anastasia Myskina walked out of the Idea Prokom Open without explanation before her semifinals match on Friday, Polish news agency PAP reported.

Top-seeded Myskina of Russia was supposed to have played Klara Koukalova of the Czech Republic but forfeited the match, which was eventually washed out along with the entire day's programme.

Myskina did not say why she quit the tournament, but PAP said she would present her explanation at a news conference on Saturday.

Tournament officials could not be reached for comment, but Myskina was not listed on the official schedule for the women's semifinals on Saturday.

The men's quarterfinals were also postponed to Saturday.

Qualifier Nicole Vaidisova of the Czech Republic defeated second-seeded Milagros Sequera of Venezuela 6-4, 6-1 to advance to the semifinals of the Vancouver Open on Friday.

Third-seeded Alina Jidkova of Russia overcame sixth-seeded Rita Grande of Italy 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 to make the last four.<137>
