NELLORE, AUG. 14. The Minister for Higher Education, P. Venkateswara Rao, has promised that all teaching vacancies in the State would be filled within the next two years. Mr. Rao, who was the chief guest at the regional meet of Sri Venkateswara University College Old Students'Association, in connection with the University's golden jubilee celebrations at V.R. College, Nellore, on Saturday, said that to start with 346 posts of junior lecturers and 1,150 other teaching vacancies would be filled within the next two months. About the mushrooming of colleges without norms, he pointed out that they were supposed to function without Government aid for a specific period but tried to get Government funds nevertheless. Mr. Rao, conceded that the proliferation of private colleges was due to the fact that all was not well with Government institutions.
