Partly cloudy

CHENNAI, AUG. 14. It will be partly cloudy on Sunday with a possibility of shower in some areas. On Saturday, Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam registered a maximum of 37 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature was 28.8 degrees Celsius in Nungambakkam and 28.1 degrees Celsius in Meenambakkam. The humidity was 56 per cent and 47 per cent.

Power cut

Power supply will be suspended on Monday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. in parts of Royapuram and Tondiarpet areas, due to maintenance work.

Museum

The Government Museum and National Art Gallery will remain closed on Sunday on account of Independence Day.

Special drive

A special drive was conducted by Chennai Division of Southern Railway on Friday to check ticketless travel, irregular travel and unbooked luggage by mail, express and suburban trains in the Chennai Central - Arakkonam section. A total of 515 cases of such violations were detected and an amount of Rs.71,479 was realized as penalty in the drive in which 92 staff and 25 RPF personnel were deployed.
