Rain likely

Forecast: A spell of rain or thundershower likely in some areas.

At Waltair, the maximum temperature was 33 degrees Celsius and the minimum 26 degrees Celsius on Saturday. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 81 per cent and at 5.30 p.m was 79 per cent.

At Airport, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 35.8 degrees Celsius and 28 degrees Celsius respectively. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 75 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. was 66 per cent.

The maximum and minimum temperatures at the Dolphin's Nose were 31.9 degrees Celsius and 23.5 degrees Celsius. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 90 per cent.

Exemption for shops

The Labour Department has announced exemption to all the shops and establishments in Visakhapatnam district regarding closing hours in view of Varalakshmi Vratha Pooja from Monday to August 22.

The exemption would be subject to the condition that no shop be open after 9.30 p.m.

Tricolour treat

Hotel Green Park is offering mega Independence Day buffet -- `India meri jaan - the Tricolour treat' -- on Sunday. Delicacies and exotic cuisine from various States will be spread on a lavish buffet, according to the hotel's general manager, T. Atchi Reddy.

Mega medical camp

Rotary Club of Waltair conducted a mega health camp for 700 children at Visaka Seva Sadan School on Friday. The Visakha-I MLA, Dronamraju Satyanarayana, inaugurated the camp. The club president, Valli Ram Gopal, said they would organise a mega eye care camp within a month.
