CPI plea to drop price hike move

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, AUG. 14. The Communist Party of India (CPI) State council has urged the Central Government to drop the move to hike the prices of LPG by Rs. 4 and kerosene by 20 paise.

In a statement issued today, the CPI assistant secretary, K. Narayana, said it was "shocking". The APSRTC Transport Mazdoor Sangh, in the wake of reports about impending hike in diesel price by Re.1 per litre from Sunday, said it would cause RTC an additional financial burden of about Rs.140 crores.

The union general secretary, M. Nageswara Rao, urged the Chief Minister to convene a round table conference on the issue.
