Ganesh shines

ANDIPATTI, AUG. 15. Ganesh scored 79 as Sethu Institute of Technology, Kariapatti (SIT) defeated Madurai Kamaraj University College, Andipatti by 48 runs and entered the quarterfinals of the State-level inter-collegiate cricket tournament here on Sunday.

The scores: SIT, Kariapatti 166 for nine in 25 overs (Ganesh 79, Jaffer three for 32, Arputharaj three for 35) bt MKU College 118 in 23.1 overs (Muthukumar 29).

Jeyaraj Chelladurai College, Periyakulam 139 in 25 overs (Jahir Abbas 39) bt Horticulture College, Periyakulam 109 in 23 overs.

Bharat Niketan Engg. College `B' 55 in 17 overs (Karthik four for 22) lost to St. Joseph's College, Tiruchi 56 for two in 10 overs.
