The Dravid debate Sir, _ Skipper Sourav Ganguly has said that Rahul Dravid will continue to keep wickets in the one-dayers. Failing to collect a ball or two does not call for replacing the wicketkeeper, he reckons. But Ganguly fails to understand that such lapses encourage batsmen to step out and strike effectively. Also, bowlers have to adjust their bowling line to suit Dravid's movements, resulting in poor deliveries. R. Navukkarasu, Coimbatore Not gracious Sir, _ Sourav Ganguly's comments on the choice of the wicketkeeper for the forthcoming matches only goes to show that he is not clear in his thoughts. It is a shame that instead of welcoming a young and promising wicketkeeper-batsman like Dinesh Kaarthick, he makes a statement which is anything but gracious. He says that Rahul Dravid will be the wicketkeeper for the one-dayers, while Parthiv Patel would be back for the home Tests against Australia and South Africa! Rabi Rajaratnam, Chennai Bring laurels Sir, _ Sports lovers will ever approve the decision of ace long jumper Anju George carrying the national flag during the opening ceremony at the Athens Olympics. Everybody will hope that Anju and her teammates will bag medals and bring laurels to the country. Chandra Manoharan, Erode Yeoman service Sir, _ Ace Basketball Club celebrated its golden jubilee by conducting an all-India tournament. The club's founder-chairman, M.S. Venkataraman deserves all appreciation from the public in general and basketball lovers in particular for his yeomen service in the promotion of the sport. "MSV' and his family have been doing tireless work for the successful conduct of the tournament. The journal released in connection with the golden jubilee is testimony to his achievements since 1962. V. Subbaiah, Chennai A simple man Sir, _ As a person closely associated with the activities of Tamil Nadu Hockey Association for more than three decades, I had seen from close quarters the late V. Rajasekaran as a player, official and administrator. I must say he was a true promoter of hockey. The write up in your paper on his passing away was a tribute to a simple man. Dr. M. Sathiyaseelan, Chennai Champion Anand Sir, _ Winning the Mainz rapid chess classic for the record seventh time and immediately after his Dortmund success, Viswanathan Anand is now on top of the chess world in both forms of the game. Indeed he is now on par, nay even a step ahead of past champions like Boris Spassky, Anatoly Karpov, Gary Kasparov and Bobby Fischer. He is a World champion but an Indian first and his deeds have made every citizen proud of him. Kudos Anand! A.V. Narayanan, Tiruchi
