Clash mars celebration

KAKINADA, AUG. 15. The national flag was allegedly torn by Palacharla Satyanarayana, a former sarpanch and Telugu Desam leader, following an altercation with Congress workers when they objected to flag-hoisting by him at the Zilla Parishad High School at Thalluru village in Gandepalli mandal on Sunday.

The mandal Congress president, Voginni Satyanarayana, lodged a complaint with the Gandepalli police that the TDP leader not only insulted the national flag but also threatened Congress workers of facing dire consequences if anyone dares to unfurl the flag. However, later the school headmaster brought another flag and hoisted it.
