Aparna emerges champion

KUMILY (IDUKKI), AUG. 15. Fifth seed R. Aparna of Kannur won the Kerala State women's chess title at the Shishak Bhavan on Sunday. Aparna upset top seed Nimmy A. George in the fourth round and final round to tally 3.5 points to win the crown. E. Sheena (three points) finished second, while Talma Gopal came third with (three points). The top six in the tournament will represent Kerala in the National women's championship to be held in Kozhikode.
