KOCHI, AUG. 15. Three experts today inspected the machinery of the cardio scan centre which was sealed by the city police recently. The action was taken against the centre on receiving complaints from a couple of patients and the convener of Janapaksham Medical Committee, Sajeen Ragh A.R., which said that the institution had been cheating the public by providing false scan reports and operating without proper authorisation from the authorities concerned.
Machinery inspected
Paul Joseph of the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Kozhikode, Prakash Kamath, cardiologist and Sreekanth Moorthy, radiologist at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences inspected the machinery. Antony Kanjirathinal, who runs the centre, was arrested in this connection and was later released on bail. The accused has produced a degree in alternative medicine from the University of Colombo.
Report within a week
The experts are expected to submit their report in a week's time. After obtaining the report, the police plan to conduct a detailed investigation, including questioning the manufacturer of the machine and software experts regarding the machinery. The police had also raided the institution's sister concern, which has been reportedly administering chelation therapy to cardiac patients. Chelation therapy, the complainant had said, was a treatment involving intravenous infusions.
