Portraying unity, harmony
Songs portraying the irrepressible spirit of unity and harmony were presented by the school choir and students of Class V and Class VI, dressed up as soldiers, presented a soul-inspiring dance on "Kandhon se milte hain kandhen''. From Jhansi ki Rani to Rahul Gandhi, from Bhagat Singh to Laloo Yadav, the tiny tots of the school came dressed as the national leaders of the by-gone era and present day. With the tri-colour decorating various parts of the school, as the children's art work was on display, the atmosphere was definitely patriotic. The Principal, Meeta Rai, in her message said that through such celebrations, children imbibe the values, virtues and ideals on which the foundation of a democratic republic is laid.
School celebrates I-Day
The celebration started with the hoisting of the National Flag. Then there was the salute and undertaking of national pledge by the students' council. A sapling was also planted by the chief guest in the school premises. The students then presented several cultural programmes. These included patriotic songs, recitation and dances also a visualisation of Tagore's poem, "Where the mind is without fear''.
Cops honoured
The officers were presented with the tokens of honour for their "highest performance in duties''. The awards were presented on behalf of Baba Sahib Gurdwara, Damdama Sahib Gurdwara and Bhogal Gurdwara Singh Sabha to Deputy Commissioners of Police, Pravir Ranjan, P.C. Hota, and Anil Shukla, and Inspectors, Hardev Singh, Ranvir Singh, Radhey Shyam and Malhotra. The award presentation ceremony at Sagar Residency on Mathura Road, Jungpura, was followed by a cultural programme.
Bank offer to exporters
The benefits include an interest rate that is 0.25 per cent below the applicable rate on pre-shipment credit and a concessional rate of post-shipment credit which would involve the offer of the softer rate applicable up to three months for an extended period of a year. Special rates would also be offered on the processing of credit facilities at rates which are 25 per cent lower than what is applicable to other exporters.
Ramayana conference
The two-day conference beginning August 22 brings together Ramayana scholars from different countries as well as India and aims to propagate the ideal of universal brotherhood. The conference is being jointly hosted by the Triumala Tirupati Devasthanam Dharma Prachara Parishad, the Oriental Research Institute of the S.V. University and the Rashtriya Sanskriti Sansthan. Besides academic sessions the special attraction at the conference will be an exhibition of old manuscripts of various Ramanyanas along with paintings.
