IN FULL CONTROL: Railway Minister Lalu Prasad inspects the weighing of parcels at Danapur Railway Station in Bihar on Monday. PTI
PATNA, AUG. 16. Continuing with his "raids" to set things right, the Railway Minister, Lalu Prasad, today turned his attention on alleged irregularities in freight carriage. He stopped the Millennium Parcel Express at the Danapur Railway Station today for an inspection. The scrutiny remained incomplete in the absence of the facility to weigh the bogies at Danapur. The exercise would be completed in the Asansol Railway Station in West Bengal. Special compartments were being attached to the goods train for Mr. Prasad and reporters to travel to Asansol. Mr. Prasad intends to supervise personally the weighing process. The goods train is now detained at Danapur and would depart for Asansol later in the evening. As per the papers with the guard, the train is supposed to be carrying consignments weighing 505 tonnes of freight. All the wagons have been sealed. The inspection would verify whether or not the papers said the right thing. Senior officials of the East Central Railway, including its General Manager, accompanied the Minister.
