Gebrselassie could miss 10,000m

ATHENS, AUG. 16. Haile Gebrselassie may be unable to defend his 10,000m Olympic gold medal because of a nagging Achilles tendon injury and could be forced to miss the Athens Games, his manager said on Monday.

"It's not looking all that fantastic," Gebrselassie's manager Jos Hermens said. One of the greatest long-distance runners of all time, Gebrselassie is seeking to become the first individual athlete to win the same running event at three Olympics. — AP
