ERODE, AUG. 17 . The Kadirampatty panchayat here has been declared a clean village and awarded Rs. 5 lakhs. Informing this today, the Collector, D. Karthikeyan, said that further, as part of Government's move to provide infrastructure to five panchayats, Kadirampatty, Muthugounden Valasu, Komarapalayam, Konamoolai and Vellankoil were granted Rs. 70 lakhs under the water supply and sanitation programme. (The Government chose and awarded 15 panchayats in the State as clean villages) In Kadirampatty, toilets were constructed in all the 885 houses with the Central and State Government subsidy. The panchayat president, D. Mahalingam, also contributed Rs. 85,000 towards the construction. The panchayat set up a bio gas plant to produce cooking gas from human excreta. The gas was used at the anganwadi noon meal centre every day.
