American College HSS takes title

MADURAI, AUG. 17. American College Higher Secondary School rallied brilliantly to defeat host and last year's runner-up Idhayam Rajendran Residential School `A' 48-43 in the final of the fourth State-level basketball tournament for high school boys and retain the Kalimark Rajendran-Jeyalakshmi Trophy here recently.

The results (final): ACHSS 48 (K. Arun Pandy 16, K. Arunkumar 11, G. Radhakrishnan 10) bt IRRS `A' 43 (Muthuvel 16, Narendran 13). Semifinals: ACHSS 63 (K. Arunkumar 20, Saravanan 14, K. Arun Pandy 13) bt St. Britto's HSS 22 (C. Judis 10); IRRS `A' 43 (Ramakrishnan 16, Narendran 11, Vaitheeswaran 11) bt KVSHSS, Virudhunagar 17 (Satheesh 10).
