BSB men clinch title

BANGALORE, AUG. 17. Banks Sports Board bagged the men's team title in the inter-Institutional badminton championship with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over the host, LIC in the final at the Karnataka Badminton Association stadium here on Tuesday.

It was Karnataka player, D. Guru Prasad's fine efforts that saw BSB prevail in the end. After the Banks Sports Board lost the opening tie, Guru Prasad won his singles, beating Jaison Xavier 15-4, 15-4 and later with the match score tied at 2-2, Guru Praad teamed up with Abhijith Naimpally to win the deciding doubles beating Jaison Xavier and S. Bhattacharjee 15-7, 15-6.

Guru Prasad also ended on the day on satisfying note by entering the men's singles pre-quarterfinals with a 15-2, 15-6 win over Shailendra Pawah of Defence Accounts.

Bhattacharjee 15-7,15-6).
