SBI plan for self-help groups

COIMBATORE: State Bank of India plans to provide credit linkage to nearly 2,000 self-help groups (SHGs) in the district during this financial year, according to its Deputy General Manager, Kalyana Krishnan. He was speaking at a seminar conducted by the bank on SHGs here on Monday. Subjects such as strengthening of the marketing avenues for the groups were discussed then. The importance of conducting monthly review meeting at block-level to resolve issues confronting the groups was stressed at the programme. Officials of the bank, the District Rural Development Agency, Block Development Officers and representatives of the Non-Governmental Organisations participated. — Our Staff Reporter
