KGL still in contact with captors

By Atul Aneja

MANAMA, AUG. 17. The Kuwaiti transport company, whose seven employees including three Indian truck drivers have been taken hostage, continues to remain in ``contact'' with the hostage-takers.

Diplomatic sources said that channels of communication between KGL and ``intermediaries'' involved in defusing the hostage crisis were open, but the resumption of formal negotiations was still not in sight. KGL's talks with the kidnappers through the Iraqi mediator, Sheikh Hisham Al-Dulaimi, had broken down on August 8 over ``compensation'' for the people of Fallujah.

KGL spokesperson, Rana Abu Zaineh told The Hindu that all the seven hostages in Iraq were ``safe.''
