Court proceedings paralysed

By Our Tamil Nadu Bureau

CHENNAI, AUG. 17. Court proceedings remained paralysed in the Madras High Court and other subordinate courts here, with lawyers continuing their boycott demanding withdrawal of conduct rules for them.

Amidst heavy police presence, a large number of agitating lawyers met on the Madras High Court Advocates Association (MHAA) premises before taking out a rally.

By then they were joined by scores of students from the Madras Law College who came there in a procession, shouting slogans.

After the rally, the agitators assembled near the main gate to hold a brief dharna and a ``relay hunger-fast.''

At Nagapattinam, functioning of courts was affected here as nearly 150 lawyers continued their boycott.
