TIRUMALA, AUG. 17. The T.T.D. Executive Officer, Ajeya Kallam, on Tuesday formally inaugurated the "Bio-Metric photo identity access control system'' at Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirumala. The Rs.10-lakh machinery was installed at the temple's main entrance `Mahadwaram' as part of strengthening security measures at Tirumala. The objective is to arrest unauthorised entry of individuals into the temple complex.
Fingerprint reading
With the introduction of the system, the entry of every individual into the main temple complex could be checked by fingerprint reading and verification. For the individuals, whose finger prints cannot be read such as those working in the temple kitchen due to oil and mud on the hands, a `smart card' is being issued and their entry will be checked on showing the card to the reader in the system, which in turn shall display the photo of the individual on the small screen. The entry of the scouts and guides, Srivari sevaks, casual labourers employed by various banks and bank employees attending the `Parakamani' duty (who are not regular T.T.D. employees) can also be screened and regulated by the new system.
