Kisan card to be more attractive
By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD,
AUG. 17.
The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has announced that the Kisan Credit Card (KCC), which was introduced in August 1998 as a hassle-free credit delivery mechanism for crop loans, is being enlarged to include term loans for agriculture and allied activities, including a reasonable component to meet `consumption needs'.
J.R. Sarangal, Chief General Manager of the bank, said in a press release here on Tuesday that the credit card scheme would replace the traditional crop loan system with major share of crop loans being routed through it. The scheme was intended to work as a single window mechanism so as to include various term credit needs. And these measures were comprehensive in its coverage of credit needs of farmers, he said.
