CHENNAI, AUG. 17. The 1 (TN) Battalion of the National Cadet Corps today organised a cancer and tuberculosis awareness programme for slums-dwellers of Chindadripet. "Every year we organise programmes on various themes in the city," said Navin Seth, administrative officer. "Last year, our themes were corruption and rainwater harvesting." "Depending on the message we intend to convey we target the audience. This is the first programme of the year," he said. Around 100 cadets from city colleges welcomed the residents, beating drums and staging skits on cancer and TB in association with the Resource Group for Education and Advocacy for Community Health and Mitra Foundation.
