BANGALORE, AUG. 17. A seven-year-old girl and her seven-month-old sister were crushed to death when the wall of a cement godown collapsed on their house in Banashankari police station limits on Monday night.

According to the police, the incident occurred around 11.30 p.m. at Lakshmi Enterprises Cement Godown near Vidyapeeta Circle. The dead were identified as Ghousia Begum (7) and her sister, Asha Begum.

Their father, Badesab, who was the watchman of the godown, was living in the house adjoining the godown with his wife, Ayesha Bi, sister-in-law, Taj Bi, and his children. Badesab was not in his house when the incident occurred. The godown was constructed about 20 years ago and the wall collapsed, probably as it was weakened by the rain on Monday evening, the police said.

The public rescued Ayesha Bi and Taj Bi, who were caught under the debris. The Banashankari police have arrested the owner of the godown, Purushotham, and registered a case.
