NEW DELHI, AUG. 17. The body of the 18-year-old first year law student of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University who allegedly committed suicide in her hostel room at Kashmere Gate in North Delhi on Monday was handed over to her parents after post-mortem today. According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Delhi), Rajesh Khurana, Akriti's parents told the police that she had failed in her Class XIIth Physics paper, the results of which were declared about two days ago. This could probably have been the reason for her depression, he said. Meanwhile, the inmates of East Hostel of Indraprastha University today clarified that there was no argument between Akriti and the hostel warden on Monday morning. "The warden is a person of strong virtue and prudence who has always exhibited humble nature. The inmates, staff and every one else, who are residing in the hostel submit that no such incident of argument had occurred on Monday morning," said a statement signed by 107 hostellers.
