Rain likely

NEW DELHI AUG. 17. The weatherman has forecast one or two heavy spells of rain or thundershowers in some areas of the Capital on Wednesday. The sky is likely to remain generally cloudy.

The maximum and minimum temperature recorded on Tuesday at Safdarjung was 34 degree Celsius and 26.6 degrees Celsius, while Palam recorded a high of 32.2 degrees Celsius and a low of 25.3 degree Celsius.

The maximum humidity at both Safdarjung and Palam was 92 per cent, while the minimum was 70 and 85 per cent respectively. Palam recorded 1.4 mm of rainfall, while Safdarjung recorded only traceable amount of rainfall.

40 injured in collision

NEW DELHI AUG. 17. More than 40 persons, including 15 women and three children, were injured when an RTV vehicle collided with a Haryana roadways bus at Maurice Nagar in North Delhi today. The condition of one of the injured was reported to be serious.

According to the police, the RTV was coming from Khalsa College and going towards Krishna Colony when it collided with the bus near Patel Chest Chowk on the North campus of Delhi University around 5 a.m.

While seven women, two children and seven men were admitted to Bara Hindu Rao Hospital, where one of them was reported to be serious, and others were admitted to Aruna Asaf Ali Hospital and Trauma Centre. Following the incident, the driver of the roadways bus escaped from the spot.

A case has been registered at the Maurice Nagar police station and further investigations are on.

Arrested

NEW DELHI AUG. 17. Two persons have been arrested for allegedly threatening a woman at gunpoint on the Tis Hazari courts premises on Monday.

The police said Guddu (25), a resident of Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh, had come to the court for a hearing in a case registered at I.P. Estate police station in Central Delhi. His wife, Wakila, who had left him and married Israil, was also there. Guddu whipped out a country-made revolver and threatened Wakila of dire consequences if she did not leave Israil. However, Wakila raised an alarm following which the police arrested Guddu. His associate, Kailash (23), was also arrested for allegedly possessing live cartridges.

A case has been registered the Subzi Mandi police station and further investigations are on.

Suicide

NEW DELHI AUG. 17. A 19-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling in her house at Hauz Khas in South Delhi today.

According to the police, Mohsina, daughter of Mohammad Faiz, a resident of Hauz Khas village in Hauz Khas, was found hanging in her house around 3-30 p.m. No suicide note was recovered from the spot. At the time, nobody was present in the house.

A case has been registered at the Hauz Khas police station and further investigations are on to ascertain the reasons behind the incident.

Robbed of car

NEW DELHI AUG. 17. A man was robbed of his Maruti Zen car at Najafgarh in South-West Delhi on Monday.

According to the police, Jasbir Singh, a resident of Najafgarh, was going in his Maruti Zen when he was intercepted by four men travelling in a Maruti WagonR in Najafgarh around 9-30 p.m. As per the complaint, three persons came out of the car and forced him out from the driver's seat. One of them then took to the wheel and the other two sat in the car and drove away.

The police said the complaint did not mention anything about weapons. They are also looking into the possibility of Jasbir's car being taken away by the marshals of the finance company following the complainant's failure to pay the instalments.
